The tour

The classic Carpathian Mountains ‘Haute Route’ takes you along the mighty Fagaras Ridge to Moldoveanu, Romania’s highest summit. This is the adventurous mountain trekker’s dream.

The 75 km mountain ridge is bordered in the west by the valley of the Olt River (Red Tower Pass) and in the east by Bran Pass. The highest peak is Moldoveanu, with 2.544 m (8,346 ft), while the most impressive is Negoiu – 2,535 m (8,317 ft).

The meaning of the word “Transylvania” is the land beyond the forest.

As the perfect destination for a trekking holiday, here you’ll experience some of Europe’s wildest scenery where brown bears, wolfs, lynx , chamois, marmots and soaring raptors still thrive.

You’ll trek through rural Transylvania to ‘Castle Dracula’ and round off the trip in the Bohemian city of old Brasov.

Our walks in Transylvania follow high mountains ridges, climb up to mountain lakes and pass dramatic gorges and plummeting waterfalls.
